AstaroOS: Backup & Download Image of Hard Disk
It would be nice to backup and download the image of hard disk from web admin. In this way, In case of hard disk fail, you can boot from an external USB drive while you are waiting for RMA replacement of ASG unit.

But having an image download option would certainly speed up the restoration process. You have to admit - reinstalling and then restoring the backup is more tedious to do, especially with those of us that DO NOT use the appliance, and have big honkin servers with 4 to 8 NIC ports......my internal default tends to move around on me when I've had to do this in the past just to get to the "restore from backup" and this mucks everything up and forces me to have to move ethernet cables around just to get to my internal port after a reinstall.
I need to also recommend that this imaging process be an ISO so that when we DO perform a restore/reinstall from it, it puts our ASG right back to where it was before the failure.....call it an ASG Snapshot........in ONE step and not the multiples that I have had to perform in the past - all while my network is down and no one is very productive. This is all about saving time and reducing steps folks = the very cannon of tech.

well, another unit for ha is too much expansive for our organization....
I'd rather suggest to a) either have a spare server handy that can be used for a quick replacement setup (Installation + restore - 45 min tops) or directly order a 2nd unit as Failover. The USB feature would only be a temporary fix for customers that have a) Platinum support and b) have a problem with the HDD and c) only run a single box.
I doubt that there are that many customers around who have Platinum support, need the box running and do not have a HA failover setup. But, please comment if you are one of those customers. My short experience with the product may have biased me in a rather "unusual" way.
But usually in CED can access only authorized people...
So, what is the use of 3 USB ports in ASGxxx ? UPS and?

The ASG cannot boot and run from an external USB hard drive as allowing that would violate the security requirements of any organization serious about security.
