Networking: USB 3.0 Network Adapter Support

USB 3.0 LAN adapters are fast 1000 Mb/s and it would be nice if the drivers was added to the kernel.
Special thoose with Asix chips, they are all over!

I completely agree. This is one of the first USB nics to be able to perform equally with regular pci ethernet adaptors and will probably start to become very popular once people start learning about it. Actually it appears many people are still living in the past when it comes to USB ethernet because I so often see people making claims that USB ethernet is lousy performace. With the AX88179, that is not the case. If you have not noticed technology changes quite rapidly. Even in USB 2.0 mode the AX88179 easily achieves 85 mbps, if my isp was not limted to 80, i would assume it could even do better.

        +1

Please add module ax88179_178a.ko - internet speed of 100+ mbps is not uncommon any more.
        is already in stock kernel.

        Thanks!

Sophos UTM 9.201-23 lists its kernel version as 3.8.13.15-111

The AX88179 entered the mainline Kernel at version 3.9

Could anyone from Sophos comment as to maybe when a UTM version built on Kernel 3.9 or later be released?

Unless Sophos are actively removing modules when rebuilding their Kernel build, hopefully support for the AX88179 adapters should be coming soon...

9.1 don't support USB 3.0 network adapters. It does support USB 2.0 network adapters. but in my case where I have a 100 mbit/s internet connection, USB 2.0 is not fast enough to handle a stable connection with both up- and downloads. at best it perform 40-50% of a 100 mbit/s connection.
        but thanks for the comment/information!
