Less noise UTM 220
The UTM 220 fans are very loud and some customers are not happy about it.
Please enable fan management in the software for these appliances.
Maybe in a next revision change the fans and use quiet ons.
The UTM 220 successors offer variable speed fans, and will operate virtually silently, unless temperature increases require higher speed fan operation.
Any update? What are the options for retrofitting the earlier UTM 220 units? The fan noise is unacceptable for test lab environments.

For those of us with these already deployed, is there anything we can do? Will a firmware update fix it, or will the fans need to be swapped out? If the fans need to be swapped out, will there be a plan in place to help us resellers do that for our clients?

We've also had lots of complaints regarding the 220 noise level. I can tell you that the new SG series is MUCH quieter.
any progress on this, its September 2014 and original suggestion was from 2012?
+3 on this
Great device, but it sounds like it is going to take off into orbit any second. Some clients are asking if they can be turned down or muffled in some way. Also it is quite a bit louder than any of the servers that are at client sites.
I just plugged in my new 320 and thought it was just running fans at 100% for power up... but they never slowed down. Unit is VERY loud. Please add fan management!
Ditto for the 320. My old one wasn't too bad, but my new UTM 320 is very loud.
I'll add my voice to this. The noise level is far greater than the servers in the rack.
Fan control would be great

PLEASE implement fan control - this is a big deal for a lot of sites that don't have a dedicated space for computer gear.
This is my 3rd 220 series appliance. Each time it gets noticeably noisier. Noise and power should be proportionate to requirement/demand and not MAX all the time.
