Networking: Support for USB Network Adapters
There are a lot of small and cheap devices capable for the (home) use of Astaro Security Gateway software (e.g. netbooks with 1GB RAM) but limited just with one Ethernet interface, but also offering multiple USB ports. For most (small) installations an additional USB network adapter would be sufficient - but is so far not supported...
Let's turn on USB network support in the kernel:
# CONFIG_USB_CATC
# CONFIG_USB_KAWETH
# CONFIG_USB_PEGASUS
# CONFIG_USB_RTL8150
# CONFIG_USB_USBNET
!
This feature has been released as part of UTM 9.1. We now have support for many USB Ethernet adapters. Give yours a shot today, and let us know at www.astaro.org what you see for success. Enjoy.

It would also be nice if there was added support for USB 3.0 LAN adapters in the kernel for UTM 9.1!!! there is no support for that in the BETA version of it!!
Bring on USB 3.0 LAN adapter support so we can get 1 Gb/s connections, instead of the too slow 100 Mb/s connections -

I downloaded the 9.2 Beta and Ax8817x chipsets still not supported.
Should be able to enable by CONFIG_USB_AX8817, Can this be addressed please.

I installed Xen-Hypervisor on a small form factor PC w/o Slots. Xen detected my USB NIC and I'm using the UTM as a virtual XEN machine. Works fine but it would be great to use the USB NIC direct. I think it will work with better performance w/o the XEN Hypervisor environment for only this one virtual machine..
I'd like to try the UTM on an Igel UD3. There I also need USB NIC support. -

I agree at least make it a non supportable option for those with the home user license.

This feature would help many home users who only have laptops. The big problem with laptops is unlike desktops, there is nowhere to put additional components eg PCI slots. Adding USB support would solve this problem perfectly.

USB Ethernet Adapter
Ive seen so many posts requesting this feature and no requests.
Seems this would make a lot of people happy if added and would increase the expandability of some astaro systems running on pcs
