  1. Wireless: Support 5GHz in all access points

All Sophos AP's need 5GHz connectivity. All professional wireless devices (Notebooks, mobiles ore whatever) are able to connect via 2,4 and 5GHz.
5GHz technology is more stable as 2,4 GHz and has numerous advantages.

    • Less noise UTM 220

The UTM 220 fans are very loud and some customers are not happy about it.
Please enable fan management in the software for these appliances.
Maybe in a next revision change the fans and use quiet ons.

      • RED: High Availability Unit Support

Option for usinig two REDs in active/passiv config. If one RED fails the other will be online.

        Case:
Customer has two Internet Connections, and wants to have two REDs. (It is a must cause of possible HW failure). There should be an automatic switch from one RED to the other and back. (both RED are connected internally to the same switch)

        • Please bring back the AP5 it has some great uses.

I have soem sites where a the AP5 and RED is just so amazing it is the key to selling the whole UTM solution and it the fact it only supports the one SSID is not a hinderance.

          • ASG Appliances: Hardened Version with Flash RAM

Providing ultimate reliability and recovery, If Astaro OS and configuration files can be stored on a non-volatile solid-state disk or RAM. In the event of a hard disk failure, the solid-state disk or RAM allows the system to continue its operations.

It is secondary that a System recovery be a matter of installing a new hard disk and initiating the recovery if hot swappable HDD option be available also to lower models to the likes of ASg525 and 625. The system automatically restores itself to normal operating state.

            • Hardware: Integrated Power Supply in the 110/120

I wonder if people agree with my preference to have no external power supply adapter in the 110/120 appliances. It would make my physical setup easier and cleaner.

              • Sophos 24/48 port switch (with poe options)

Please think about making a 24/48 port witch that has some integration into the utm box (Similar to the ap30) that would give me stats on my network and allow me to troubleshoot admin from one login.

                • Reset a device to factory settings using a paper clip

When a Sophos UTM device is rendered inoperable due to a software or configuration problem, provide a means to reset the device to factory settings by using a paperclip to press a reset button. Like a Airport express device or many other electronic devices, it should not be possible to press the reset button accidentally.

When the reset button is depressed, beep several times, format the internal hard disk, install the software from an internal flash drive, or hidden recovery partition and when done, beep several times to notify the user its done.

When the system is restored, permit the…

                  • Raid Monitoring: Add MegaCLI Tool for Dell PERC / LSI MegaRAID

Please add the MegaCLI Tool to control Dell PERC / LSI MegaRAID Controller thru the MegaCLI Tool provided by LSI. It works great for a lot of controllers (PERC based on MegaRAID). While this CLI Tool requires very much no dependencies but a working driver (already given by 8.3!) it should be no problem to integrate it into one of the next updates. Please!!

                      • Appliances: Tighter power connector for UTM 1xx-series

The current power connector is not reliable since it easily can fall out.
I would prefer to have a connector with a lock, like the TE Connectivity VAL-U-LOK. Other firewall brands, like Fortinet for example, uses that type of contacts.

USB 3.0 LAN adapters are fast 1000 Mb/s and it would be nice if the drivers was added to the kernel.

                          • ASG Hardware: Rear USB Ports

                            Hi,
with ASG220 rev4 the USB ports on the backside of the ASG got lost.

This is not very useful, because know I have to put UPS and KVM cable to the front.

Please have 2 USB Ports on the backside again.

                                  • Disable the need for root password for fsck on boot when filesystem is not clean/damaged after power outage. Automate fsck process on boot.

Our UTM120 did no longer boot and upon connecting a screen we notice it was asking for the root password to perform a manual fsck on /tmp

As the default setup on the UTM does not have a root password set we were unable to repair the filesystem and we experienced quite some downtime before we were able to reset the root password and repair the filesystem.

Is it possible in a future update to address this issue ? Automatically repair filesystem errors on bootup ? Skip fsck on /tmp ? Allow fsck to be performed without root login ?

Advanced partner would like a feature request for the Sophos Web Appliances, which was in direct result to a conversation with an existing customer within the education sector.

Currently, the SafeSearch feature is a global option, allowing you to turn it on or off for all users.

                                      Could we please:

                                      * Give the Administrators the option to turn this on or off per policy (Using Additional Policy Controls)

                                      Or

                                      * Give the Administrators the option to remove certain sites from this safe search. IE, exclude YouTube but allow all other sites to be used with the SafeSearch facility turned on.

                                        • Hardware: Options for T1 CSU/DSU

I would love to be able to plug a T1 or 2 into the ASG directly so I don't have to buy a separate T1 router and be able to support at least 1 if not a 3MB bonded T1.
