UTM (Formerly ASG) Feature Requests
Do you have an idea for Sophos UTM? Do you recognize a good idea when you see one? We want to hear from you!

Wireless Security: Authentication via Active Directory Credentials
Add the ability to connect to the wifi network / hotspot using your AD credentials.
The “company” wifi network can then be accessed using your credentials and when an account is removed or disabled you also cannot connect to the wifi anymore. With that feature you don’t have to change the wifi code whenever a person leaves the company. Maybe also add AD group membership so you can easily grant a select group of people access to your wifi network.172 votes -
Wireless: SMS Passcode for HotSpot
Add a fourth variant for hotspot type "SMS Passcode". User enters his mobile phone number into captive portal, and will obtain a passcode via SMS. Just got this requirement today from a partner, who wants to set up a free public wifi hotspot this way for a customer...

Wireless Protection: Site Monitoring Tool
Implement a WiFi Site Monitor showing a "map" of all connected APs and Clients around you, and rogue APs. Plus show more detail of WiFi infrastructure like a spectrum of the 2,4GHz band, to identify interference and non WiFi devices that will lower connections speeds more easily.

Wireless Protection: Granular Customization of Vouchers
To be able to pass on more information to the voucher's recipient it would be very helpful to be able to edit the layout of the voucher or at least have two separate (HTML) text fields for the Hotspot's homepage and the voucher itself.
At this build (9.003-15) you can only have one text which can be HTML and displays correctly at the Hotspot's homepage, but without any layout (plain-text like without formatting) when "printing" the Voucher's (PDF). In most situations where the connection procedure to WiFi (eg. company or hotel WLAN) is not seamless - when SSID and encryption…52 votes -
Wireless Protection: Bridge wireless interfaces to local interfaces
Currently, wlan interfaces can not be used in bridge configurations. It would be great to be able to bridge wlan interfaces to local interfaces (and/or an existing bridge)

Wireless: Reboot / Restart of Access Points
Ability to restart a connected wireless access point from the ASG web interface. Sometimes I find they are not working corrected and need to be rebooted/restart/powercycled. It would be nice if this could be done remotely, right from the web interface.

Authentication: Use Wireless Credentials for other UTM modules
Passing the authentication credentials from 802.1X WPAx enterprise authentication to other UTM modules would enable seamless SSO for wirelessly connected devices and would be particularly useful for authentication of mobile devices.

Hotspot: Possibility to change the language
Possibility to change the language of the hotspot (login page for the user) or the possibility to customize the messages (I do not mean the terms of use and user-defined text) themselves like the web filtering and mail filtering.

Wireless: Rogue access point detection
The UTM should be able to detect rogue access points surreptitiously added to the network.

Add an option to disable LED on AP30
I would like to have an option to disable the LED lights on an AP30. I like the POE and smoke detector look. The flashing LEDs give away it's real function. Plus, they are a bit bright at night.

Enhance Wireless Reporting
There is still a lot left which could be added to the existing wireless reporting:
- more information about clients: who authenticated, at what AP, when?
- reporting of failed client authentications, and usable reason (wrong password, ...)
- live bandwidth monitor for clients
- report user names when an authentication backend was used
- email notification when AP is disconnected for more than 5 minutes25 votesWe plan to increase the reporting information available regarding Wireless activity in the V9 release which is scheduled to begin beta in March 2012.

Enable repeating for AP30
It would be great if the AP30 also had the repeating option. The AP50 is too expensive for normal clients.

Wireless Protection: Give vouchers an expiration period or an expiration date
It should be possible to give hotspot vouchers an expiration period in the voucher definition so that they get a fixed expiration date when they are created.
After the expiration date the voucher should be disabled (and maybe automatically deleted) no matter if it is in use or not. The expiration date should be shown in the user portal and printed on the voucher. This is important to us because we create an amount of vouchers for our guests when they visit us. Some guests use it some not. Some vouchers lie around for an amount of time. At the…

Wireless Protection: QR Code Vouchers for Hotspot
In addition to passwords for entry via the wireless captive portal, it will help us if QR Codes can be printed on vouchers too.
Users with smartphones are able to scan the QR code with the mobile phone, which contains an individual URL to activate the session, equivalent to typing in the vouchers passcode in the captive portal.23 votesGreat idea, we’ll have a look at this.

reporting / Notification for inactive AP
I want to have a reporting or notification if a AP goes inactive or if there is a Problem with them.

Wireless Protection: Option to log voucher number within web surfing activity
A great thing would be also the log every access to a website with the voucher number information. So it's possible to track illegal surfing attempts to a user based on the voucher provided to them.

Wireless: Support for IPv6
Currently APs can only have an IPv4 address. I am not sure what would happen on an IPv6 only network.
The APs need to be updated to use IPv6 as well as IPv4. The WS tabs only show the IPv4 address of the client devices (laptops etc)21 votes -

Wireless: Alternate Licensing Options
Currently trying to sell my clients Wireless Security is an exercise in futility. For a client running an ASG 220 to add a single Wireless AP is $275 for the AP30 and then that AP costs them $720 per year for the subscription. No one in there right mind would do this.
My recommendation is to sell to a Wireless Subscription that enables 1 or 2 Access Points with an attractive Price Point. This will make it easier to sell, which will in turn make Sophos more money.
If we break it down the ASG 220 Wireless Security is $720…
